You Can Now Update Your PlayStation 5 Controller Without A Cable

Sony has recently announced a new update that’ll introduce various features to the PlayStation 5, and one of them finally solves a problem that PS5 users have had for a while. Players will now have a new way to update their DualSense controllers wirelessly, without needing to physically connect them to the console first.

Thanks to a PlayStation Blog post, we know that DualSense wireless controllers can now be updated without being connected to the console. If players prefer to update their controller with a USB cable, they still can, and Sony recommends doing so “if you have trouble updating the device software wirelessly.”

Unfortunately, this update will only be available if the user is a part of the PlayStation 5 beta program. Players can sign up for the program by visiting the PlayStation website, but the update is expected to drop sometime soon for all PS5 users.

As previously reported, this update is currently available in the United States, Canada, Japan, the UK, Germany, and France. The update will also support 1440p for VR, have variable refresh rate support, and more. In addition to that, PS5 users will now have the option to link their Discord accounts to their PS5, allowing them to chat with other players on various platforms with ease.
