A stunning new trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water has been released, inviting viewers back to Pandora in the film that takes place a decade after the events of the 2009 original.
The movie tells the story of what happens with the Sully family–Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), and their kids–as they face a new threat.

According to Deadline’s sources, The Way of Water is a very long movie at 3+ hours. The 2009 film, which is the highest grossing movie in the history of the world, ran for 2 hours and 41 minutes.
Cameron recently discussed how watching Avatar at home doesn’t really count as watching the movie because it’s made to be seen in theaters. The original was re-released in theaters in 4K in September.
It’s been more than a decade since Avatar was released, and Cameron recently talked about how he isn’t sure if The Way of Water will succeed in theaters. The movie opens in theaters on December 16.
