Pokemon Go‘s Max Out season rolls on in October with a variety of new events and Pokemon debuts lined up over the next few weeks. In addition to new raid bosses, more Galar Pokemon are set to arrive in the game this month, including Dynamax forms of Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
That’s not all that’s happening in October, however. Pokemon Go is also celebrating Halloween with some spooky Spotlight Hours and its annual Halloween event, which will take place over two weeks this year. Read on for a full look at all the biggest events happening in Pokemon Go this month.

Galarian Expedition
Pokemon Go is kicking October off with a Galarian Expedition event from October 4-11. As part of the event, the legendary Pokemon Zamazenta will return to five-star raids, and this time around you’ll have your first opportunity to catch a shiny one.
On top of that, you’ll have a chance of encountering shiny versions of Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres when you use your Daily Adventure Incense. There will also be event-themed Field Research tasks and Collection Challenges to complete, as well as a paid Masterwork Research quest to earn a Master Ball.
The nefarious Team Go Rocket will rear their heads once again and launch another takeover partway through the event. From October 8-11, Team Go Rocket grunts will be appearing at PokeStops and flying over the map in balloons more frequently, and they’ll have a new batch of Shadow Pokemon in their possession. The game will also roll out a new Special Research story that culminates in a battle with Giovanni and a chance to rescue Shadow Heatran.
This month’s Community Day takes place on Saturday, October 5, and stars the bug/grass Pokemon Sewaddle. From 2-5 PM local time, Sewaddle will be appearing more frequently in the wild, and you’ll have an increased chance of encountering a shiny version.
After the event concludes, Sewaddle’s evolved form, Swadloon, will be appearing in bonus four-star raids from 5-10 PM local time. Each Swadloon that you evolve into Leavanny on the day of the event will also learn a special move upon evolving: the ghost-type Fast Attack Shadow Claw.
Finally, a few bonuses will be available during October’s Community Day. As usual, any incense or Lure Modules that you use will last for three hours rather than their usual durations. On top of that, you’ll earn double candy for catching Pokemon, while eggs will hatch at a quarter of the distance they typically require.
