Pokemon Go January 2025 Events: Raids, Spotlight Hours, Community Day, And More

A new year has begun, and Pokemon Go is ushering it in with a variety of events and debuts. The game’s Dual Destiny season continues with the arrival of several new Pokemon, including Fidough and Mega Gallade, as well as new Spotlight Hours and raid bosses.

Not only that, but the game will host its annual Fashion Week and Lunar New Year celebrations this month, as well as two Community Days and a new Steeled Resolve event. You can see everything that’s happening in Pokemon Go in January 2025 below.

January Raid Schedule

Pokemon Go is refreshing its raid rotation once again in January.

This month will see the return of several fan-favorite legendaries, including Palkia, Attack and Defense Forme Deoxys, and Dialga. January’s Mega Raid bosses, meanwhile, will include Mega Lopunny, the debuting Mega Gallade, and Mega Medicham.

On top of that, a mystery Pokemon will arrive in Max Battles this month, while Shadow Registeel will appear as a special Shadow Raid boss during weekends. You can see January’s full raid schedule below:

January Spotlight Hours

Pokemon Go’s weekly Spotlight Hour events continue in January, offering a new selection of featured Pokemon and bonuses.

Every Tuesday evening from 6-7 PM local time, one particular Pokemon will be appearing more frequently in the wild, making this a good chance to fill out your Pokedex and stock up on candy. On top of that, you’ll earn an extra bonus during that hour, such as double XP or Stardust for catching Pokemon.

Fidough Fetch

Pokemon Go is kicking the new year off with a Fidough Fetch event from January 3-7.

Throughout the event, players will have increased odds of encountering shiny versions Voltorb and Electrike. Pokemon Go will also offer a series of global challenges that trainers around the world will work toward completing. As players cumulatively clear these goals, the game will unlock additional bonuses, including the first chance to catch the fairy Pokemon Fidough.

On top of that, a handful of puppy Pokemon will be appearing in the wild more frequently throughout the event, and there will be themed Field Research tasks to complete. You can see the full list of wild Pokemon and event bonuses below:

Pokemon Go’s first Community Day of 2025 takes place on January 5 and stars Sprigatito, one of the three starter Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet.

From 2-5 PM local time, the grass cat Pokemon will appear in the wild more frequently than usual, giving you more opportunities to catch it–and more chances to encounter a shiny Sprigatito.

In addition to the increased Sprigatito spawns, the game will offer free, event-themed Field and Timed Research tasks to complete, as well as a paid Special Research story. A handful of bonuses will also be active throughout the event, including triple Stardust and double candy for catching Pokemon.

Finally, any Floragato that you evolve into Meowscarada until 10 PM local time will learn the exclusive Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.

Fashion Week

Pokemon Go’s annual Fashion Week celebration return from January 10-19. More details will be announced closer to the event.

Mega Gallade Raid Day

A new Mega Pokemon is making its debut when Pokemon Go hosts a Mega Gallade Raid Day on January 11.

From 2-5 PM local time, Mega Gallade will appear in gyms as a Mega Raid boss. Not only will you earn Mega Energy after defeating the Pokemon, you’ll also have an increased chance of encountering a shiny Gallade.

In addition, Pokemon Go is temporarily increasing the number of Remote Raid Passes you can hold to 20, and you’ll be able to receive up to five additional free Raid Passes when you spin the Photo Disc at gyms during the event.

Fashion Week: Taken Over

The nefarious Team Go Rocket is crashing the party and taking over Fashion Week from January 15-19.

Shadow Raid Day

Fashion Week is culminating with a Shadow Raid Day on January 19.

Steeled Resolve

Pokemon Go is hosting a new event called Steeled Resolve from January 21-26. The event will presumably revolve around steel-type Pokemon, but more details will be announced at a later date.

Pokemon Go’s second Community Day of the month takes place on January 25. More details, including what the featured Pokemon will be, are slated to be revealed closer to the event.

Lunar New Year

Pokemon Go is celebrating the Lunar New Year from January 29-February 2.
