The Last of Us and Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal is reportedly in talks to come on board for the Gladiator sequel directed by Ridley Scott. His role seems unknown at this time, but he could shoot the film before returning as Joel for Season 2 of the HBO series.
Deadline reports final negotiations are underway for Pascal to join the Gladiator sequel. He could be the second addition to the film within a day, as Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn was apparently in talks for the film too.
Aftersun actor Paul Mescal is set to star in Gladiator 2 as Lucious, the son of Lucilla (being reprised by Connie Nielson) and nephew of Commodus (originally portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix). Denzel Washington is also apparently playing a major role in the sequel and reteaming with Scott for the first time since American Gangster. Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin) is also part of the star-studded cast.
Original Gladiator star Russell Crowe is jealous of the sequel and expressed excitement for Scott’s involvement. Crowe won an Oscar for his portrayal of Maximus, with the movie winning Best Picture.
Gladiator 2 is set to premiere November 22, 2024–which is over 24 years since the original.
